Kaja Haven (b. 1989) is a Norwegian artist working interdisciplinary between sound, photo, video, installation, mechanics and performance with an often action based practice.
Her work revolves around transitory and ephemeral elements of the everyday, paired with overly dramatic temperaments and staged emotional layerings. Balancing between a technical and complex- towards do-it-yourself philosophy and aesthetics, her work follows new-materialism, inter-species relations and fifth wave feminism through household items, clothing, sound, mechanics and artist or audience activated situations. Anticipation, intimacy, potential, performativity, logistics and stifting temperament are some of her occurring issues, as part of a personal and the same time objective search for a temporary, shared situational self.
Kaja recently earned a Master’s degree in Fine Art at the Art Academy in Bergen, where she also exchanged at The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Her work is mentioned in Hypebeast, Designboom, Norsk Shakespeare Tidsskrift and Art Viewer, and her practice is now based in Oslo. Contact ˜ kaja.haven@gmail.com
